This is gonna be a long post so...

CLIFFS: i got my mechanic mojo back, motor is back together, started on first try.

Yesterday started off with me planning to put the car back together, and of course i immediately started catching flack from my dad about how i wait to long to start jobs, ill never finish, blah blah. So i went out to just look over the car since its been sitting forever, uncovered the block, and shit, 1 rusted sleeve. Decided i now had no choice and the car needed to get in the garage and put back together.

Spent a good hour carefully cleaning up the 1 sleeve, it was just surface rust luckily so i smoothed it out with lots of WD-40 and the softest possible scrub pad (i know, ghetto and may be the wrong thing to do, but it kept the cross hatch and got rid of the rust). So i yet again managed to avert disaster.

started off with finally replacing the oil pressure fitting i blew out on the dyno last year (due to me cross threading it during install)

Cleaned up the deck and bottom of the head and starter putting it all back together. and got it to look like this.

unlike the first time i put together the motor originally, i made sure to set the cam timing correctly this time instead of 180 off lol. At this point i was feeling pretty good and decided to do some other non engine stuff for a little while. started by putting on my ballin radiator stay

then put in the main bar of my sweet ass full-race traction bar

then finished putting the itb's back on and threw the header on too. i decided to coat it lightly with some VHT crap i had laying around, because i didnt want it rusting anymore than it already had where the "1500 degree" coating burned right off last time. its only temporary, contemplating sending the header out to jet hot next week. also realized i lost 2 valve cover grommets so i got innovative and drilled out two of the nylon washers i had gotten for the itb mounting (they cam in a bag of 100 which was way overkill) and used them temporarily so i could run the car when i was done.

then it was time for dinner, so i hooked the battery charger left, and came back like an hour later for the moment of truth as usual. After coming back up to google the injector wiring since i apparently lost my haynes, i clipped in the injectors, turned the key and let it build fuel pressure, crank it a second, and on the first real try the bish fired right up. i now felt great.

its great to have an oil pressure gauge back (below is pressure at cold idle, when it warms its a nice solid 40ish psi)

it sounds badass with an open header

so overall im really excited, i cannot freakin wait to get it back on the road and tuned this summer. it made me feel real good when it fired right up and idled like a champ. i havent been wrenching for a while now because of school and what not, and i had very little motivation to even work on the car, but i definitely got it back now.

things to complete in near future
-finish traction bar install
-put the bitch on a diet
-send header to jet hot
-finish brake setup (40/40 prop and 1 inch master)

then i need to finalize my other plans....hopefully ill get back to work the end of the month and have more goodies on the way.

ok so a few things since i havent updated in forever...

last year on the dyno i was getting little puffs of smoke when letting off at 9k. i didnt tune/dyno with my valve cover breather on...so i figured for this session coming up next month i would have the breather system all finished.

so these showed up today (not my pic)

gonna run a hose off each, into one hose and either into the can alone or link up with one of the front lines.

then we got this in the works :uhoh:

nother goody comin when i move back to new york beginning of may to go with my takata too.
